Our Story

Pawfect Plates began in our kitchen, inspired by the love we have for our dogs and a desire to give them the best. Like most pet parents, we wanted to ensure our fur babies were eating healthy, nutritious meals, but finding the right advice and making the time to prepare it was always a challenge. We cycled through various kibble brands, wet canned foods, and occasional homemade recipes we’d find online, doing our best with the resources available.

Our Maltese, Coconut, wasn’t the most active dog—he preferred lounging around while our other two pups, Willow (a tiny Pomeranian-Pekingese mix) and Jax (our pony-sized black Lab), burned their energy running and playing. Despite their different lifestyles, all three were on similar diets, adjusted only for their weights. Coconut, however, was labeled overweight by the vet, and while we tried to adjust his feeding and increase his walks, it felt like guesswork without proper guidance.

Coconut’s health seemed stable, but everything changed suddenly. Within a matter of weeks, he became lethargic, started having accidents, and eventually stopped eating. He was diagnosed with diabetes, and we lost him shortly after. Coconut was only 10 years old. Losing him was devastating, and it left us questioning everything we could have done differently. Just three months earlier, his bloodwork had shown no alarming signs. It was a wake-up call: our pets deserve the same care and attention to their diet as we give ourselves.

This realization was the turning point. We began researching how to help dogs live long, happy, and healthy lives through better nutrition. After consulting veterinarians and an international veterinary nutritionist, we created recipes using whole foods that our dogs not only loved but that met rigorous standards for being complete and balanced according to AAFCO standards. It was a labor of love, but knowing we were giving our pets the best was worth every moment.

Pawfect Plates was born from this journey. We’re here to make wholesome, homemade pet food and treats accessible to pet parents across the country. We understand how busy life can be, and feeding your pet a healthy diet shouldn’t be complicated or out of reach.
